HILLSBORO — There were three varsity wrestling class matches decided on the mat when the Hillsboro Indians hosted the McClain Tigers in their Frontier Athletic Conference dual meet on Thursday. In the matches held, it was McClain who won all three, and in the process won the FAC contest by a 40-24 score.

McClain not only won the matches wrestled on the mat at HHS, but they also won four matches via forfeit. Hillsboro’s points came via four forfeit wins.

In the first match held on the mat, it was McClain’s Lucas Jensen winning by major decision against Isaac Lewis of Hillsboro by a 16-0 score in the 132-pound weight class.

Next in the 160-pound match, it was McClain’s Quinton Smith winning by pin versus Scott Eastes in the first period.

The final match held between wrestlers for the Indians and Tigers came in the 195-pound weight class, where Phil Waters of McClain defeated Garrett Fannin of Hillsboro by a third-period pin fall.

In the forfeit wins, the Indians had the following wrestlers have their hands raised: Kaden Boris (120), Ryan Mau (145), Justin Conn and Xander Hardin.

McClain’s forfeit wins were by Tristan Nichols (126), Ethan Burns (138), Caden Faulconer (152) and Kai Borrelli (285).

Also on Thursday, both McClain and Hillsboro wrestled Paint Valley in non-conference matches.
