Influenza-like illness is now widespread throughout Ohio for the first time this flu season, and the number of associated hospitalizations are rising. The first week of January, there were 287 new confirmed flu-associated hospitalizations in Ohio compared to 157 the week before.

    Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on Jan. 18 at 5:22 a.m., the Highland County sheriff’s office received a call from a residence on Juniper Trail that a male subject had kicked the front door of a residence open and had entered the home brandishing a knife.

    Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey are leading a group of 13 states in challenging the federal government’s “Stream Protection Rule” as drastically and illegally limiting coal mining in disregard of state regulatory authority. The states filed suit in federal court, and many also asked Congress to revoke the last-minute Obama Administration regulation.
