The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly investigating the suspected murder of a Peebles man, according to the People’s Defender and other reports.

Ashley McCarty of the Defender reported that the body of a 54-year-old man was found at a residence on state Route 781 Tuesday night, after the sheriff’s office “received a call on April 6 at 10 p.m. from the neighbor of the deceased.” Authorities determined the man’s death was a homicide, according to McCarty’s report.

The suspect, Zachary Phillips, 32, of Trenton, Ohio was arrested. He has been charged, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

The Trenton Police Department issued a press release Wednesday afternoon saying that “Trenton officers, along with deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, assisted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in locating and detaining a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Adams County.

“The suspect was held at the Trenton Police Department until Adams County deputies arrived and transported the suspect to their department. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this incident.”
