Charles William “Bill” Bear, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla.

He was born May 19, 1941 in Dayton, the son of the late Robert J. and Mary Johnson Bear.

Mr. Bear was a businessman proudly working with his sons with Bear Mechanical and Frog Blasters. He had also owned Bear Plumbing for many years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division and retired as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force National Guard.

Bill was very much interested in his home area of Pricetown and Buford and instrumental in the renovation of the Buford Church of Christ and the new construction at the Pricetown Church of Christ as well as the Danville Church of Christ.

He was a member of the Sardinia Lodge 254 F&AM.

He is survived by three sons, Ray Anthony “Tony” (Laura) Bear of Hillsboro, Dathan Allen (Patricia) Bear of Hillsboro and Heath (Linda) Butler of Lynchburg; one daughter, Rebecca Ann (Doug) Geiger of Blanchester; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Bowman of Dayton and Marilyn DeAngelo of Lebanon; three brothers, Marvin (Fritzi) Bear of Powell, Horace Bear of Dayton and Bruce Bear of Lynchburg.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Dupre “Chuck” Bear; a daughter-in-law, Robin Michelle Bear; two sisters, Ruth Williams and Gayle Bear; and one brother, Raymond Bear.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Pricetown Church of Christ. Daryl Mount will officiate. Burial will follow in the Buford Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Pricetown Church of Christ, 2070 S.R. 131, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
