Time to seek solutions to our problems
Saturday, November 30, 2019 4:34 AM
I’m my own worst enemy. It’s not immigration, other religions, the rich, poor, various races or different beliefs that limit me. I do that on my own when I decide to allocate blame rather than seek solutions that work for the greater good.

Meanwhile ... it’s time for some laughs
Saturday, November 23, 2019 12:18 PM
Fortunately, real life does offer enough comic relief to breathe a little air into the daily traumas we’re all subjected to.

Browsing catalogs is always fun
Monday, November 18, 2019 6:55 AM
One of the many secret pleasures I get when I open my mailbox this time of year is the annual onslaught of catalogs. I admit I love to browse in the comfort of my pjs rather than walking through the aisles in stores.

Another milestone is coming
Sunday, November 10, 2019 9:24 AM
One of those milestones is occurring soon. The birthday of my husband and our anniversary (the same day) is approaching. George has been gone six years now, but many events during the calendar year are reminders in ways large and small of the man who captured my heart so many years ago.

We all have our own opinions
Friday, November 1, 2019 1:38 PM
Most of our founders, whose words we claim to honor, were students of history. That’s one of the reasons the decision on the type of government this new world was to embrace was so difficult and laden with potholes. They understood the teachings, and warnings, of Plato, Socrates and Aristotle when it came to governance. I wonder how many of us can accurately name the type of government we have here in the United States.

Why can’t Halloween just be fun?
Saturday, October 26, 2019 10:29 AM
Unfortunately, Halloween is another example of how something that began one way soon takes another path altogether. What a pity for us.

Enjoy some feel-good news stories

We need to remind ourselves that sometimes people can surprise and endear us to celebrate the parts of us that are redeeming. To that end, please enjoy some of these real instances of behaviors we should strive to emulate.

Try some intentional blinders
Sunday, October 6, 2019 9:06 AM
As we move into some rather perilous times, trying to keep our own internal compass in line will become more challenging. Maybe we need to try intentional blinders once in a while to see where we really stand.

Quotes can often stick in your head
Saturday, September 28, 2019 9:44 AM
It’s good to be occasionally reminded that we have had the privilege to hear and read great words. I was watching some show that I wasn’t even really paying attention to until there were a few references to phrases from great writers.

Meanwhile, time for a bit of humor
Sunday, September 22, 2019 9:50 AM
Each day, we’re faced with more unbelievable events. We need to be made aware of these events, even if they put our brains on chaos overload. Each day, we’re in need of a little respite from the craziness.
