Unless the protest of voucher expansion becomes an ongoing priority of traditional school district advocates, a universal voucher strategy will eventually be enacted into Ohio law. The rhetoric that vouchers are needed for poor kids to escape “failing” districts is just so much poppycock. Voucher advocates want all students to be eligible for vouchers.

“It’s all good.” “It will all work out.” “We are blessed.” These are the words of Jeanetta Turner. As coordinator of the Leesburg Community Center, she manages the food giveaways each month and distributes to needy families in a carefully organized system.

Tax increment financing (TIF) funding and bond issuance are two different things, each with their own set of complexities. But he wouldn't know that because frankly, in eight years as mayor, Hastings has never shown an inclination to understanding government financing.

On behalf of the Highland County Homeless Shelter, I would like to thank Highland Lanes for hosting the fundraiser and all of the sponsors and participants that helped make “Strike Out Homelessness 9” a success. The bowling fundraiser raised over $1,100 in donations and silent auctions to assist those in need.

Perry County Common Pleas Judge Linton Lewis ruled in the 1994 DeRolph school funding decision, that education is a fundamental right. On Page 469 of his decision, Judge Lewis stated: “In light of our founding fathers’ constitutional guarantees and the extreme importance of education in today’s society, this court finds education to be a fundamental right guaranteed by the Ohio Constitution.”
