The FBI has been asking questions about the former House speaker's perks from lobbyists. Possibly questions will be asked about the Gulen trip and the ECOT connection. But those perks are not limited to the former speaker of the House.

A big thank-you to all of you who came out to support the striking of the four animal per residence clause from the mayor's proposed new Zoning Codes and Ordinances. I am hoping that some of our council members are really studying this 90-plus-page ”simplified" proposal.

I do not want negative ads to filter across our communities clouding the judgment of our voters. I am disappointed to see the negative ads directed at me that are coming from in – and out-of-state – supporting my opponent – and denounce them. I hope and pray the people across this district will see through the rhetoric and look for the substance.

My opponent has benefited from the support of Speaker Rosenberger and OHROC as most of us have seen or heard the disclaimer, "Paid for by OHROC," on campaign material. Accepting any further assistance from either Speaker Rosenberger or OHROC would be irresponsible by any candidate in Ohio until the FBI investigation is complete.

For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to work with Commissioner Shane Wilkin. I would like to share what I have seen in that length of time.

The race for the governorship is going to be hard, and we need a good candidate. I ask that you support Richard Cordray and Betty Sutton for governor and lieutenant governor. For representative to Congress, I ask that you support Jill Schiller.

Being a businesswoman, mother, farmer, medical professional and pilot has prepared Beth Ellis to represent the citizens of the 91st District. She will protect our gun rights, fight for job creation, fight the opioid crisis and fight to keep taxes low. She is the only citizen candidate with the education, experience and ability to move our community forward.

With the advent of No Child Left Behind, followed by Race to the Top and Every Student Succeeds Act, the feds have usurped the education provisions of the Constitution of each state. This intrusion has taken the form of high stakes testing, public school closings, firing of school personnel, promotion of vouchers and charter schools, and a host of subtle tactics that diminish the Great American Common School System.

We in the 91st Ohio House District have a rare opportunity to have an active farmer go to Columbus and fight for rural Ohio. Beth Ellis of Clinton County is a small business owner and farmer who personally understands the struggle for farmers and the challenges our communities face.

House Bill 512 is a sinister end-run around the Ohio Constitutional provision for a state board of education and a superintendent of public instruction employed by the board. HB 512 essentially proposes the elimination of a constitutional provision by legislation. The Legislature has no right to transfer the State Board of Education operation to the governor's office.
