Our first few years at the creek we had so very much to learn, and when I heard that there was going to be a presentation about wild edibles a few hours’ drive east, I knew just what to do. I set the alarm and woke Greg early one morning, and off we headed in the predawn darkness.

Ladies and gentlemen, when we paused last time in 1880s on the long and winding road to the Brown-Roush Ohio Sesquicentennial Farm owned by my parents, Ken and Judy Roush of Highland County, we talked about how my great-great-uncle, Wesley Kenneth Roush (whose name is the exact same as my dad’s), perished tragically on his very first birthday.

Lawmakers would have done the small businesses owners a much better service by changing the mandate to restore full-time employment for any changes made between March 27 (when Trump signed the act) and April 26 and given them until Aug. 1 to fully restore employment. Unlike the bloated and incompetent federal government, small businesses across the nation had to take necessary steps to survive, beginning in mid-March.

The New York Fed claimed its intervention was a temporary measure, but it has not stopped pumping money into the repo market since September. Also, the Federal Reserve has been expanding its balance sheet since September. Investment advisor Michael Pento called the balance sheet expansion quantitative easing (QE) “on steroids.”

It is going to get harder over the next few weeks, but we all need to stick with our social and physical distancing, wash our hands, avoid contact with our high-risk groups, and keep working hard to slow down this virus. And whatever you do, don’t water the soap.

President Thomas Jefferson famously said: "The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter."

During this challenging time, each court in Ohio can determine how it wants to handle evictions. For instance, the Franklin County Municipal Court is allowing the filing of new evictions, but instead of setting the possession hearing dates two to three weeks after filing like usual, now all possession hearing dates are set eight weeks out. Other courts, like the Eastern and Western Divisions of the Montgomery County Municipal Court, have made no changes to scheduling possession hearings.

All the big airplane manufacturers plus companies like Honda and others have been diligently working on small air taxis that can fly point to point with little or no runways. Pilotless and electric, these planes will reduce the cost to the point that for many domestic trips, it will no longer be necessary to take a road trip to get to a large airport, for these new air taxis can land anywhere, carrying just a few passengers. Such airplanes will make Hillsboro as accessible as Chicago.

On behalf of our communities, I made a promise that Adena would work 24/7 to be prepared for COVID-19. Over the past several weeks, Adena has been preparing for what we are now experiencing, as we care for our region’s first patient testing positive and hospitalized with COVID-19.
