God operates on the pinnacle of the superlative! The apostle Paul writes in the Ephesian letter that our Creator “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). We have no comprehension concerning the limitless possibilities He can turn into realities. It is all much more than we can get into mind and heart.

Peter writes that it will be better for us if we will “sanctify the Lord God in your hearts … For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing” (1 Peter 3:15 and 17). David affirms in Psalm 63:3, “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.” Are you and I able to agree with that?

Words have great power – especially when they are broadcast to multitudes of people. Our trust in those who choose what to report and what to omit in the daily media diet is near the bottom of the barrel. We realize that they clearly have agendas to promote and have moved away from informed reporting to intentional repositioning of the public mindset, in too many cases.

God-fearing folks must not cease to pray for the leadership of America. Now is the time for wise decisions and right directions to be made. This may be the last time that Godly resolve and circumstance of the day will coincide. Notwithstanding the clamor of the mob, we must do right – even if it must be done at significant personal expense.

The old hymn “How Firm A Foundation” speaks of the stability “that is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!” We are so prone to wander from truth, and so quick to want it our way, that we all must have one solid starting point to build upon. It is then that life takes on purpose and leads us toward successful achievements for God.

Confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ is the absolute answer of God for our woes. Isaiah assures: “In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15).

The one who is said to be “in Christ” has had a cataclysmic change in their life. They are spiritually “born again” (John 3:3) in a supernatural cleansing and conviction of heart. Old “earthly” views and pursuits “are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Power to think and act more on the behalf of others is an emphasis of God for His children. Romans 12:20 exhorts: “In honor preferring one another,” after which Paul lists nearly 25 more conversations of life which God enables in His children. They include virtues like patience, diligence in work, hospitality, honesty and living in peace with others. These are enhanced by trusting Jesus Christ.

In a day when most men’s hearts are failing them, and faith in Christ seems on the decline, it is also right that we take the advice of the Godly farmer: “When a man prays for a good corn crop, God expects him to say ‘Amen’ with a garden hoe!”

As our nation turns to a new leadership, could we begin looking for ways to lighten the load of another? Can we press our influence for Christ into just this day, so that God is made real to those around us?
