    On Saturday (Oct. 24), the Fairfield Lions were at full health and returned to the top of the cross-country standings, winning the Division III SE District boys cross-country championship for a 10th straight year at Southeastern High School.

    It has been a long time coming for the Fairfield Lady Lions, but on Thursday night, they defended their home field in the Division III SE District Sectional Finals by defeating the visiting Southeastern Lady Panthers, winning by a 8-5 score en route to their first trip to the district round since 2016.

    For the second time in seven days, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs won against their Highland County counterpart Fairfield, but this time the win made them sectional champions, plus sent LC to the district round of the Division III Tournament for the eighth consecutive year.

    The Whiteoak Wildcats were the winners and new champions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference boys division for the first time in nearly a decade, as they won the boys title with a tiebreaker as their sixth runner bested the sixth runner of the defending nine-time champion Fairfield Lions.
