Lynchburg-Clay High School celebrated their annual homecoming game Friday night. For one half, the Mustangs played nearly even with their Highland County counterpart Fairfield, but the second half went to the Lions as they defeated the host Mustangs, 67-52.

    The Fairfield Lady Lions seventh grade team went a perfect 11-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference for the 2019-20 regular season, wrapping up their perfect record with a 37-14 win over the Peebles Lady Indians.

    Tuesday’s (Jan. 21) Southern Hills Athletic Conference game between the host Fayetteville Rockets and the visiting Whiteoak Wildcats was played closely on the scoreboard for the first half. The second half is where the Rockets began to pull away, winning over WHS, 76-63.

    Fairfield sophomore Ella Newkirk took a shot at the basket as time was winding down, grabbed her own rebound and put the ball through the hoop as time expired, breaking a tied score and sending the Lady Lions to a home win by a 44-42 score.

  • McClain wrestling tops Hillsboro in FAC dual match

    There were three varsity wrestling class matches decided on the mat when the Hillsboro Indians hosted the McClain Tigers in their Frontier Athletic Conference dual meet on Thursday. In the matches held, it was McClain who won all three, and in the process won the FAC contest by a 40-24 score.
