For the fourth consecutive year, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs are advancing to the district tournament after defeating the West Union Lady Dragons in the Division III Sectional Finals by an 82-30 score Saturday at Valley High School.

    Round two of the Highland County rivalry between the McClain Tigers and Hillsboro Indians goes to the Tigers after they held the lead for the entire game, fended off a strong run by their rival and won by a 57-45 score to close out the South Central Ohio League and regular-season schedule.

    Coach Glenn Armstrong, now in his sixth year at Sinking Spring, had built a program that took the Eagles from two or three wins per season to a runner-up finish in the county tournament – their first in school history. They would be playing in the sectional tournament at Piketon – their first sectional appearance in the history of the school. This was a season to be proud of.

    For the second straight season, the Fairfield Lady Lions are moving on to the district round of the SE District tournament, overcoming some illness and fending off a Clay Lady Panthers team by seven points, 59-52 at Northwest High School, Thursday night.

  • Lady ’Cats fall to Notre Dame in sectional finals

    Though the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats were first to score points in their Division IV SE District Sectional Final game on Thursday night, it was the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans who controlled all aspects of the tournament game. Whiteoak battled, but turnovers and missed opportunities ended the Lady ’Cats season by a 58-15 score.

    The Highland County Special Olympics Wildcats traveled to North Adams High School on Thursday to face the Adams County Board of DD Hawks, where the Wildcats won, 51-49.
