GIRLS SOCCER: Lady Mustangs defeat Peebles, Fairfield in SHAC contests

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated Southern Hills Athletic Conference foe Peebles by a 2-0 score on Wednesday at Peebles High School.

LCHS scored one goal in each half with the first-half goal coming from Belle Brinkman off a cross kick with 15:00 on the clock for the 1-0 lead. In the second half, LC’s goal came from Kaylee Lunsford with the assist by Sierra Benney off a through pass with 18:01 left in the match.

Also on Friday, the Lady Mustangs defeated Fairfield, 11-0 in a SHAC match at LCHS. This season, Karlie Tipton leads LCHS with 11 goals, followed by Lunsford with eight goals. The assist leaders are Brinkman with six and Benney with five.

LC is now 7-2-3 overall in 2019.

Wednesday, Sept 25-Saturday, Sept. 28

BOYS SOCCER: Mustangs win twice; tie with South Webster

In their past three games over a four-day stretch, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the Peebles Indians by a 5-1 score on Sept. 25, followed by a win over the Fairfield Lions on Friday (Sept. 27) by a 4-1 score. They also tied with South Webster on Saturday, Sept. 28 with each team scoring one goal.

This season, Alex Barber leads the Mustangs with eight goals, while he also has three assists. Having four goals each this season are Connor Tyree, Hunter Balon, Harrison Burge and Ian Waits. Leading the team in assists are Tyree and Trey Pitzer with four each.

LC now stands at 8-3-2 overall on the season and 5-0-1 in the SHAC.

Wednesday, Sept. 25

BOYS SOCCER: Lions win over Piketon

The Fairfield Lions gained a non-conference win Wednesday by defeating the visiting Piketon Redstreaks by a 2-1 score.

Scoring goals for Fairfield were Jordan Cameron and Reese Teeters. Both players also tallied an assist in the win. At goal, James Bentley finished with six saves.

The Lions are now 4-8 overall this season and 1-5 in the SHAC.

Thursday, Sept. 26

SOCCER: Lady Indians tie with Jackson; HHS boys fall to JHS

On Thursday night, the Hillsboro Lady Indians tied with FAC counterpart Jackson with a 2-2 score at JHS.

The two goals were scored by Lexi Sheppard.

In the boys game, the Indians lost by a 2-1 score to host Jackson.

Thursday, Sept. 26

VOLLEYBALL: HHS falls to Ironladies

The Hillsboro Lady Indians volleyball team lost to the host Jackson Ironladies in three straight sets, Thursday at JHS.

HHS lost by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-22.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, HHS lost at home to the Washington Lady Blue Lions in three straight sets. The loss came by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-10.

HHS now stands at 3-16 overall this season.

Thursday, Sept. 26

VOLLEYBALL: Lady Tigers drop match to Miami Trace

The McClain Lady Tigers were unable to gain a win in FAC action Thursday night, falling to the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers in three consecutive sets.

McClain lost by scores of 25-15, 25-10 and 25-16.

Leaders in serving included Jaelyn Pitzer (7-8, two aces), Ashley Hardesty (5-5, one ace) and Iva Easter (5-6, one ace).

Attack leaders were Pitzer (21-23, five kills), Iva Easter (15-18, four kills), and Gracey Eakins (13-14, four kills).

Passing was led by Hardesty (28-37), Pitzer (26-35) and Kyndall Penwell (12-16).

Setting saw Kaleigh Easter lead the way at 40-43, with 18 assists.

The loss moves MHS to 5-13 overall and 1-7 in the FAC.

SOCCER: Pollard nets 5 goals in win over Miami Trace; Boys team falls to Panthers

On Thursday night at Miami Trace, the McClain Lady Tigers soccer team got back on track with an FAC win, defeating the Miami Trace Lady Panthers, 5-0.

All five of McClain’s goals came from Kerigan Pollard, with four of those goals coming in the first half. MHS led by a 4-1 score at halftime.

In the boys game, the Tigers were shut out, losing by a 2-0 score to the host Panthers.

Thursday, Sept. 26

VOLLEYBALL: Lady Lions win in 4 sets against Manchester

The Fairfield Lady Lions volleyball team won a big SHAC match on Thursday by defeating the host Manchester Lady Greyhounds in four sets.

Manchester won the first set by a 27-25 score, but from there it was all Fairfield, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-19 for the 3-1 win.

Leading FHS in kills was Layla Hattan with 11, while Emma Fouch and Faith Miller each had seven kills. Saylor Priest was the leader in aces with three. Hattan and Fouch each had two aces, while Miller had one.

Braylynn Haines totaled 10 solo blocks in the SHAC win, while Paris Priest finished with one. Jaden Smith led FHS with 27 digs, and Saylor Priest totaled 23 assists to lead the Lady Lions.

he Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost three straight sets to the visiting Peebles Lady Indians on Thursday at WHS by scores of 25-8, 25-19 and 25-20.

Friday, Sept. 27

VOLLEYBALL: Fairfield sweeps rival Whiteoak in 3 sets

The Fairfield Lady Lions earned another SHAC win on Friday by winning on the road against rival Whiteoak.

FHS won the match by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-15.

The Lady Lions were led in kills by Layla Hattan with nine, followed by Faith Miller with five, Braylynn Haines with three and Emma Fouch with two.

Saylor Priest finished with eight aces to led FHS, while teammate Fouch totaled five aces in the win. Also with aces were Hattan (two), Miller (two) and Gracie Lawson (one).

Haines also led FHS with two solo blocks, and Paris Priest also recorded a block. Jaden Smith led the Lady Lions with 22 digs, followed with double-digit dig totals from Hattan (15) and Fouch (14).

Saylor Priest was the assist leader with 12, while Miller totaled eight.

WHS is now 0-12 on the season, while Fairfield is 14-3 overall.
